In the US, the top 3 selling cars are trucks. The Ford F150, Chevrolet Silverado and the RAM Pickup. We are starting to see a few Cybertrucks on the road as well. IMHO, the ugliest car on the planet.
If you were to choose, what would you go for?
I would go for the F150 EV. Pretty nice. I clearly have a bias for electric vehicles of any size.
Whether it’s taking families on new adventures or helping fleets electrify at scale, our vehicles all share a common goal — preserving the natural world for generations to come.
I think trucks in the US are too large and shouldn’t exist. While not electric I’m looking into getting a Ford Maverick Hybrid. It is a sensible size and not a roving murder box.
We could learn a thing or two from the Japanese and the trucks they use.
I live in Italy and I bought a new car some months ago. The dealer was full of SUVs and a couple of trucks. The worker I spoke with was in disbelief when I asked for a sedan. Nowadays the roads are full of SUVs and some trucks which are incredibly expensive and fuel-consuming even in southern Europe where we have old cities with narrow roads (and sometimes tourists and locals get trapped between historical buildings).
I don't understand why so many people want to drive in a truck. They're huge and only a fraction of the people I know use them for work and transporting heavy loads, most use it as a normal car and they look like a lot of trouble navigating or parking in a city.
If I needed one, I would pick a Hilux. But I much prefer 2 wheels, so I probably won't ever get one.
Though I'm still trying to figure out how to move a kayak on two wheels. Kayak bicycle trailers aren't legal here in Denmark (max legal length of bicycle+trailer is 3.5m, most kayaks are longer than that without the bicycle). So if I ever get a truck, that would be the reason.
I do hate trucks, but I will have to admit that some people do need trucks and I do respect them for the jobs they do with them. It's just that everybody that has a truck and does it use the truck to its fullest capacity is that I have issue with, not everyone needs a massive truck.

@athos what is the plan towards profitability? I confess not to have heard of @vivaldi yet. Sounds nice and a cool team! Company owned all is great. But you need money sooner or later. As an alternative to Firefox, I'll recommend from now on.

I installed Vivaldi on all of our servers as part of the local utilities. Its better than the pre installed Edge. My colleagues seem to like. However on my personal laptop i switched back to Firefox from Vivaldi as I seemed have better control of plugins and unwanted garbage in web pages.
I might give it another whirl but Im am concerned about how the changes to Chromium might affect Vivaldi.

After the latest (imo) betrayal of their core basis by Firefox I got recommended to #Vivaldi. Just installed it on all my machines and will be using it instead of #Firefox from now on
One thing that would make me switch immediately would be, if tab closing meant: delete everything, localstorage, cookies, indexdDB. Except for sites explicitly configured not to do this.
Duckduckgo has the fire button, but this decouples closing from deleting the data in a stupid way.
Firefox has delete on exit, which is OK on the desktop, but who closes an app, ever, actively?
Firefox is severely restricted on Apple stuff by their policies. Same for Vivaldi?
I'll be honest, the fact that Vivaldi is based on Chromium is a major point against it for me. I used to use Vivaldi a few years ago but went back to Firefox at some point. Now Firefox has some features that Chromium browsers don't have (and I'm not sure if they ever will), that I use every day and wouldn't want to miss.
I am however wary of Mozilla's increased entanglement with the ad industry. Most Firefox forks are not optimal.
I gave #Vivaldi a crack but it wouldn't let me have a seamless experience between Android and desktop (macos). I don't think I could even use bitwarden on mobile which instantly stopped my testing.
I use Firefox because I worry about browser engine monoculture, especially controlled by Google.
Every major endeavor requires resources. I'm not sure I approve with what Mozilla is doing but I understand they need to find a revenue source. What is the revenue source of Vivaldi, current and future?
those are grear points. The opposite of what Mozilla became today - ad company with builtin ad tracking in firefox. The worst part is that Vivaldi is based on chromium. Plus mv2 extensions situation.
@tux0r I guess we have not had so much requests for it. We try to make Vivaldi available everywhere we can, but for us to add a platform is a major undertaking.
I used to be a big fan of Opera, back when it had its own rendering engine and included a rather good email client. I even bought it. (Yes kids, in the olden days you paid for software with money, not your data.) I was really disappointed when they dropped their own engine. The next thing I read about you was that you started your own browser: Vivaldi but unfortunately also based on chrome.
@dummzeuch If you have not tried Vivaldi fully yet, please have a look. M3 is a very good mail client, I would say. We got a feed reader and calendar as well.
I have actually tried it. It's a nice browser and I don't remember whether there was anything in particular I didn't like, apart from it being based on Chrome (which I don't like any more. I used to be a big fan of Google too, not any more, they have turned not not evil.). For now I'll stick with Firefox, at least on Windows. On mobile I'm currently trying the Samsung browser.

Did you spend enough time with it to try all the features? We have a built in mail client, calendar and feed reader and we provide more flexibility and functionality than any other browser out there.

This is a bit disingenuous, surely? Vivaldi make browser UIs - a browser is a lot more than its UI and Vivaldi relies on Google's Chromium.
If people are truly worried about where browsers are heading, investment in Servo is probably the most useful thing they can do right now. Even investment in WebKit would be a wiser choice to avoid a future monopoly, imho.
Use Vivaldi because you like it, not because you want to stick it to Microsoft/Apple/Google/Mozilla/etc.
I used Vivaldi for several years. Sadly, something happened that I had to switch to more mainstream browsers (Chrome and Firefox). I will give it a try again, though.
Vivaldi has a lot of features you do not find in any browser. You mention some of them. We do have an email client, feed reader and calendar. We also have very powerful tab handling, mouse gestures, keyboard shortcuts and quick commands. We even have web panels. So we are very feature rich. We also provide sync functionality between the different browsers, which is fully encrypted. And we are proud to be the only browser company to have our own Mastodon instance. We also provide blogs and forums as well as a way to share themes. We are very focused on bringing what our users want.
Our users are not asking us to be an OS company. They want us to support their OS.

And our users are clear that AI is not something they want us to integrate. If they want to use AI, they can use AI services out there. No need to integrate it.

@philip_cardella Ideally we would have liked to build our own core, but having done that before, we knew that would not be viable.
So we were left with basically two choices and the safest bet was Chromium. We feel this is a strong codebase and having had to deal with compatibility issues in the past, we feel this was the best choice we could make.
We do a lot of work to make this Chromium based release as strong as possible. We have features not found in any other browser and we have more settings and flexibility than any other browser. We do listen as well.
It’s a topic that is practically inescapable these days, whether online or off. But when it comes to cryptocurrency, all that virtually glimmers is not gold.
I'm going to be that guy and say a lot of them were not any of that either, until somebody dangled $ in front of them. I have no trust in any browser vendor these days, and that is a disappointing situation.

What do they have in common? Something that looks like a hate for cyclist and the wish to kill us.
Everytime I'm on my bike and see a pickup truck I have to be extra careful, they will ignore traffic rules and try to run you off the road.
I've never understood why someone would want a truck as their everyday vehicle. Personally I have the Volvo EX30, and it's amazing!

Though I'm still trying to figure out how to move a kayak on two wheels. Kayak bicycle trailers aren't legal here in Denmark (max legal length of bicycle+trailer is 3.5m, most kayaks are longer than that without the bicycle). So if I ever get a truck, that would be the reason.
