My little survey showed that most of you do hate trucks. I can understand that. In many countries, trucks just do not fit in. They are too big.
On the other hand, they can be quite practical. For me the idea of an electric truck is quite compelling and I hope they will become popular in the US.
if you map out your use case, you may find that it is inconvenient because you won't be using the bed space for 99% of the time, unless you are of course a tradesman or a farmer, but you will have problem parking and manoeuvring such a large vehicle. They are also less safe at high speeds, have a larger breaking distance. You can always rent a truck if you really need it.
The thing about trucks is the danger they pose to the people around, especially children.

It has absolutely nothing to do with space. Sweden is practically a big empty forest and yet people who need larger vehicles drive vans or real trucks (lorries). There's no point to a pickup. It's entirely cultural.
is it just me or is the argument that when you buy a car, it better can do everything? which usually translates to lots of space, long range, etc., even if it is rarely ever utilized?
Not sure. A lot of the time I have been driving small cars myself. My first car was an old VW Golf. I drove a Mitsubishi Colt for years. These are great city cars. Easy to park. Nimble. My first EV was an e-Golf.
Other times I like having bigger cars. I had a VW Caravelle. Just great to be able to drive a big group of people. For a while I had a Ford Transit van. With room for 15 people, it was great, but not practical as a daily driver.
@mathieulefrancois , for longer drives they can be great. I have been playing with the F150 Lightning, the electric version of the F150 and it is surprising how nice a ride it is.
