It is not realistic for us to do that. There would be security issues in Chromium and for us to make sure we get fixes to those security issues would become harder and harder.

At Opera we had 100 maintaining Presto. That is more than twice the size of our team. We would need more than that now.

@kariboka , I think it is unlikely. It would require a lot of work and it would not make Vivaldi better.

When we evaluated what our options were, we looked at Chromium and Gecko for the most part. We know that starting from scratch would not be feasible for us, having done that before and knowing what it entails.

We found Chromium to be the safer bet.

I had a Commodore 128 back then.

After my 8-bit Atari, I had no personal computer while at college. Was too busy with class work, and there was no broad access to the internet in those days. On the rare occasion I needed a computer, I used one in a dorm lab or drove home to the Atari. Bought my first Mac in ‘93, just before graduation.

I went from a 1MHz C64 to a 2.4 GHz PC.

My mother had this "you already have one computer" response every time I wanted to upgrade, so I didn't get to upgrade until I moved out.
