5 years ago, 100 people were rescued from a sinking boat by the oil tanker, El Hiblu. 3 teenagers, Abdalla, Amara, and Kader, were among those rescued. When the ship turned towards Libya, instead of a safe port north, the survivors started to panic. As the only ones speaking English, the three teenagers mediated between the survivors and the crew and convinced the Captain to turn towards a safe harbour in Malta. Their actions prevented an illegal #pushback to Libya, a place of extreme danger for many.
But when they arrived in #Malta, instead of finding safety, they were met with terrorism charges.
Now 5 years later, The "El Hiblu 3" are still suffering the consequences of this day, facing lengthy prison sentences if convicted. The "El Hiblu 3" have been deprived their freedom, safety, and youth.

This morning—third foggy morning, yeah—I forgot my phone. Since I had to be back home within an hour, and time tends to do an 'Einstein' when I'm out photographing, I took this first photo just to capture the time. Without really checking what or how I was photographing. Somehow, I like it. I'm not entirely sure why, but it immediately caught my attention when reviewing the shots. That either speaks for the photo or against the rest of the images.
