There are options. Choosing those options will require you to learn something new, but that is a small cost to pay to get away from Big Tech, IMHO
Here are my suggestions. Feel free to add your own:
1. Browser : Vivaldi. That one is a given for me, obviously.
2. Mail client : Vivaldi. You may wonder why you need a mail client, but besides the technical benefits, it makes it a lot easier to move between mail services or even use more than one.
3. Mail service : Fastmail. They have been around for a long time.
4. Office software : Libre Office.
5. Video conference : Whereby.
6. Desktop OS : Linux.
7. Social : Mastodon and the Fediverse in general.
As said, I am eager to hear what you are using to help me move away from Big Tech as well. Always looking for new things to try.

For Calendar I use #OneCalendar which handle CalDAV directly, #betterprivacy 'cause doesn't use phone calendar. And Contacts are synced via #DAVx5. App updates are done via #Obtainium and #Aurora.

agreed about linux. although the ongoing talk about "systemd" and "wayland". and other things make me sick to the stomach. although i tried linux mint a short time ago. found out spirallinux cinnamon is still better. 😉
@s1r83r We are a non-profit focused on establishing climate friendly IT infrastructures and we're pushing also #opensource b/c you can't get data sovereignty without using #opensource #software. On that hand we're of course running our own self hosted mail server. Everything worked flawlessly - with just one exception: #microsoft arbitrary sent the ip address of the vps on a blacklist (S3140) which prevents sending mails to "outlook.com" and "hotmail.com". Complaining helped us off the list
Possibly this has been mentioned already, but this popped up this morning. Always a good idea storing your stuff in a location covered by the EU's GDPR.
