Germany is not high in the rankings for shootings at all. You first have to go through the USA, the entirety of South America and most countries in Africa before any EU country even gets mentioned and then even within the EU Germany is very average.

@dcc @SuperDicq @snacks @sun should be about homicide numbers in general anyway. in germany or wherever with restrictive laws people just use knives, cars, hammers, axes, etc.
only difference is that people attacked can't defend properly.
@taylan @sun @SuperDicq @snacks @dcc criminals will have guns anyway, so having these restrictive gun laws is letting a tiny percentage of people, criminals, dictate what others can do.
i won't dig out statistics right now, but knive wounds tend to bleed much more as the hole is bigger.
What if you only have a legal gun and the other guy illegally possesses army-grade weaponry?
The obvious response to this is "why the fuck is that even a thing?" You don't wanna get into an arms race with criminals; you want such criminals to simply not exist. Gun control laws are one very crude and superficial element of that, but of course don't solve the real problems. If I remember correctly, Norwegian civilians are armed to the teeth but they have low rates of violent crime.
On to a more serious subject. Who can recommend a good indoor TV antenna. I've tried the Channel Master flat antenna and it was crap. So if there is a better one out there to try I'm all rabbit ears
It also helps to do a channel scan on clear still days. You can also lookup where the towers are and use an app to find them. You may find it's better to put the attena at the back window.
@Invictus My apt is where signals go to die. I have a Tmobile tower 5 miles away and I can get a whopping 2.7Mbps down using their data. Mountainous area, window faces the opposite direction of where the towers are, and first floor, make it difficult. Big difference from living on the top floor of an apt building with line of sight from Westchester all the way down to Staten Island

I too am interested in Linux because of being on the fediverse. Thanks for documenting your journey. The fediverse is fascinating. There's always something new to discover that serves a relatively small & passionate community. Lately I'm curious about trom.tf which looks like a one stop shop for all things federated, yet I've seen no one ever talk about it. They have an ideology that might turn off some; it makes sense to me. Do you know them?

Today I learned the term “aceflux” and I’m already confused by it. According to Wikipedia, it’s a sexual orientation on the asexual spectrum that may fluctuate between asexuality, greysexuality, and allosexuality.
Now, as an allosexual myself I know from experience that sexual attraction comes and goes. Greysexuality is also apparently defined as sexual attraction coming and going. And asexuality is the absence of sexual attraction.
So far it sounds to me like aceflux is equivalent to both greysexuality and allosexuality, but I’m probably missing something that Wikipedia isn’t helping with.
An alternative is asexual people making wrong assumptions about allosexuals, which is also possible.
We don't have good information on what's "normal" sexuality in the first place. So people define themselves relative to whatever norm they observe in their community, and in a lot of places, people are expected to have a fair amount of sexuality going on all the time. Aceflux makes sense as an identity in those communities.
@clayote Thank you for your helpful reply, so either I was right about the wrong assumption hypothesis, or I myself am on the asexuality spectrum, which doesn’t feel very likely to me.
And the wrong assumptions could be sparked/amplified by the hyper-sexualization of Western media, if one doesn’t feel represented by it.
Frankly, trying to define oneself against the average human out of seven billion seems pretty useless to me. I think it likely that people with similar experiences of sexuality tend to find each other, resulting in communities in which the average person actually is like this.
@clayote I agree with you, but this de facto insularity apparently lead to the creation of a jargon that doesn't seem to stand to general scrutiny. In particular, I'm surprised "aceflux" and "greysexuality" made it to Wikipedia when they seem to make sense only in specific communities.
More simply put, how wide the "asexuality spectrum" is described on Wikipedia makes allosexuality into a meaningless term nobody can ever identify with. It probably makes sense in communities to have such a vague term you can safely define against (like "normie" in other circles), but I've never seen one of them uncritically make it to Wikipedia before.
@Brian Ó I don't find it without merits in general, when the terms are specific enough to be distinct from each other. In this case it feels egregious to me that there are several terms that seem to mean the same using the postulates available on Wikipedia.

I don't like the ESV translation because it says the way is hard or difficult. But if you think of it this way, that Christ is that narrow gate, its not that its hard, its just that very few will choose to go through that gate.
