With more than 100 million followers, the damage by Elon Musk is substantial. Media is not perfect, but the likelihood of finding accurate information on Twitter is getting lower each day. You really have to look for it. The algorithm that decides that the first post you see if from Elon every single time, even if you do not follow him, ensures that misinformation rules.

Are you saying that the 100 million that get his messages at the top of their feed all realize that what he writes is not trustworthy?
I also notice that a fair amount of the other posts in the "for you" column are from people sharing similar misinformation. Likely people he likes. They tend to follow straight after his posts.
So from what I can see the algorithm works something like this:
1. First message from Elon.
2. More messages from Elon and people that share similar misinformation.
3. Some messages from people you follow.
4. Goto 1.
Pretty simple in a way, but bad.
There is a reason why I am staying here on Mastodon.
